Terms of Service

Abyss Fishing · Lanternfish Studios
Effective date: October 17, 2026 · Last updated: October 17, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Lanternfish Studios, the business name of Kelvin Cao, a sole proprietor in British Columbia, Canada ("we", "us"), for the mobile game Abyss Fishing (the "Game"). By downloading or playing the Game you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Game. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Who can play

If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Game only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms for you and is responsible for any purchases you make.

Match this to the target-audience decision in the privacy policy (section 10). If the Game is not for children, state the minimum age (e.g. 13).

2. Your licence to the Game

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the Game on devices you own or control, for non-commercial entertainment. We (and our licensors) own the Game and everything in it, including its art, music, characters such as Captain Marv, and code. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or distribute the Game, or use cheats, bots, modified clients or exploits.

3. Gems, coins and other virtual items

4. Captain's Pass

5. Purchases and refunds

Lawyer: confirm the EU withdrawal-right waiver (it also needs a clear notice at the point of purchase) and any country-specific consumer rights you must not exclude.

6. Rewarded ads

You can choose to watch rewarded ads for in-game rewards, up to a daily limit. A reward is given only when the ad finishes. Ads are provided by third parties and we don't control their content; we aren't responsible for products or services they advertise. Ad availability isn't guaranteed.

7. Friend features and acceptable use

The Game lets you add friends by friend code, view their profiles and aquariums, appear on leaderboards and send preset reactions. When using them, you agree not to:

You can block or report any player from their profile. We may review reports, reset usernames to a random one, remove profiles from leaderboards, or suspend or end access to friend features or the Game for anyone who breaks these rules, with or without notice where the law allows.

8. Your progress and changes to the Game

We keep improving the Game. We may add, change or remove features, content, events, and the balance of rewards and prices, and we may stop offering the Game or its online features. If we plan to shut the Game down, we'll give reasonable notice in the Game and stop selling Virtual Items beforehand. Except where the law requires, we won't owe compensation for Virtual Items when the Game changes or ends.

Decide the shutdown notice period (e.g. 30 or 60 days).

9. Disclaimers

The Game is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of data loss. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived under the law where you live.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Lanternfish Studios isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data or Virtual Items, and our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Game is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

Lawyer to review; EU/UK consumer law restricts these clauses.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring claims in your local courts. Before starting a claim, please email us so we can try to solve the problem.

12. App store terms

If you got the Game from Google Play or Apple's App Store, that store's terms also apply. If you use the iPhone version, Apple isn't responsible for the Game or its support, has no warranty obligations for it beyond refunding the purchase price where applicable, isn't responsible for claims about it (including intellectual property claims), and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them against you.

13. General

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the Game. Continuing to play after changes take effect means you accept them. If a part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Game.
